AMD EPYC 4004 Zen4 “AM5” CPUs with 3D V-Cache have been leaked

AMD EPYC 4004 Zen4 "AM5" CPUs with 3D V-Cache have been leaked

EPYC 4004 CPUs spotted on sale in the USA

A seller from California has briefly listed AMD’s yet unreleased EPYC 4004 series of CPUs for the AM5 socket.

AMD is about to launch AM5-based EPYC server processors, and there is now evidence that this is indeed happening. As we reported 3 days ago, AMD has apparently been planning to offer yet another CPU variant for this otherwise consumer-grade socket. The EPYC CPUs are already offered on larger SP5 and SP6 sockets, featuring support for EPYC 9004 and 8004 series. The AM5-based version would be much smaller.

Currently, the AM5 package only supports 16-core CPUs, and even the next generation of Ryzen CPUs is said to be limited to the same core count. Thus, the leaked EPYC 4004 CPUs are almost certainly not featuring more than two CCDs with 16 Zen4 cores, unless of course, these are using a new configuration, maybe even with Zen4c cores.

Some of these CPUs are seemingly confirmed to feature 3D V-Cache (featuring X distinction). What is yet to be confirmed is whether these CPUs have only one CCD with 3D V-Cache or perhaps two. The Ryzen 7000X3D series is only using one to maintain a good price-to-performance ratio, but this may not be an issue for expensive EPYC server-grade processors.

Leaked AMD EPYC 4004 CPUs

  • AMD EPYC 4244P (100-00001480)
  • AMD EPYC 4344P (100-00001479)
  • AMD EPYC 4364P (100-000001477)
  • AMD EPYC 4564P (100-00001476)
  • AMD EPYC 4384PX (100-00001483) 3D V-Cache
  • AMD EPYC 4484PX (100-00001482) 3D V-Cache
  • AMD EPYC 4584PX (100-00001481) 3D V-Cache

AMD has not yet confirmed the release date for the EPYC 4004 series, nor have they announced any planned product launch events specifically geared towards data center products. The upcoming Computex keynote is the nearest event on the horizon, but it’s unlikely that AMD will focus on enterprise solutions at a consumer-oriented show.
