AMD Ryzen 8000F confirmed global launch
The rumors were true, AMD is preparing to launch its Hawk Point based APUs without graphics.
AMD Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F are the latest processors that will fit into the AM5 socket. This launch follows the Ryzen 8000G series, which debuted in January this year. The new APUs target budget systems that may benefit from the Zen4 architecture, but may not necessarily require integrated graphics.
As we know, all Ryzen AM5 processors now come equipped with either RDNA2 or RDNA3 graphics. Thus far, there has only been one exception to this statement, which is the Ryzen 5 7500F processor based on Raphael silicon. This is soon about to change as the company is launching its 8-core and 6-core variants of Hawk Point APUs without graphics as 8700F and 8400F models.
We have only seen these APUs in system integrator systems in China, but with the new listing from a large Canadian retailer, global launch is more than confirmed.
What PC Canada is revealing are four variants of the CPUs, sold either as MPK or boxed editions, but each variant will be equipped with the Wraith Stealth cooler. The pricing is clearly not official, and it doesn’t make much sense when compared to existing G series that feature onboard graphics support:
Ryzen 8000G vs. 8700F (lowest pricing at PC Canada)
- AMD Ryzen 5 8400F (100-100001591): $421.99 CAD
- AMD Ryzen 7 8700F (100-100001590): $590.99 CAD
- AMD Ryzen 7 8700G (100-100001236): $461.99 CAD
- AMD Ryzen 5 7500F (100-100000579): $253.99 CAD
- AMD Ryzen 5 8500F (100-100000931): $250.99 CAD
Alternatively, there is a listing from a Europe-based retailer Funtech which shows €199.90 and €309.90 pricing respectively. This Slovenian retailer is also selling 8700G and 8500G processors at €325.20 and €185.71 respectively. So, similarly to the Canadian retailer, these prices are clearly not final because it would simply be wiser to pick up the G-series SKUs which are faster and have graphics enabled.
With new AM5 desktop CPUs coming, AMD will be extending its offer from 15 SKUs already consumer grade (non Ryzen Pro) already available. AMD is yet to confirm official pricing and global availability date.
