Snapdragon X Plus with 10 cores
Qualcomm has held a press event where the new X Plus series was showcased.
Qualcomm set to make the official announcement of its X Plus series tomorrow. The key detail is that the X Plus will come with 10 Oryon cores, a reduction from the 12 cores found in the X Elite series.
Qualcomm has disclosed four Snapdragon X SKUs: X1E-84-100, X1E-80-100, X1E-78-100, and X1P-64-100. Here, the “1” denotes the generation, while “E” indicates a tier (Elite/Plus), and the numbers such as 84/78 represent the SKU. The last three digits are set to define a variant, though it appears that all current samples use 100.
In terms of specifications, the X Elite will boast 12 cores with a maximum multi-threaded frequency of either 3.4 or 3.8 GHz. Only two SKUs will support a Dual-Core Boost frequency of either 4.2 or 4.0 GHz. The flagship X1E-84-100 model will feature the highest frequencies and the fastest Adreno GPU, offering up to 4.6 TFLOPS of performance. Other SKUs will deliver 3.8 TFLOPS of performance.
For comparison, the AMD Radeon 780M boasts 8.3 TFLOPS (though this is RDNA Dual-Issue, so half should be considered), and the Core Ultra 100 Arc GPU reaches up to 4.6 TFLOPS (128EU/Core Ultra 9 185H).
Qualcomm has provided benchmarks for comparison. If we average the data from ranges and compare Elite to Plus, the former is expected to be around 17% faster on average. The most significant difference is observed in the Cinebench 2024 multi-threaded score, where the Elite variant appears to be approximately 40% faster.
Expect more details about the X Plus series tomorrow.
