MSI launches Gaming Duke, its first triple-fan RTX 4060 model

The company revives its Duke series.

It has been a while since MSI launched a new Duke graphics card. In fact, the most recent release was based on the Turing architecture and was part of the RTX 20 series. However, the history of the series dates back to the GTX 10 models. The Duke series serves as budget-oriented models, positioned between the Ventus and Gaming series. However, since MSI introduced a higher tier of products, namely the SUPRIM series, there has been less incentive to add more versions.

It’s worth noting that the Gaming Duke series is not targeted towards the global market; rather, it is limited to the Chinese region. The new model can only be found on MSI’s China website.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the Gaming Duke marks MSI’s first triple-fan design, based on the RTX 4060. While many companies like Gigabyte have prioritized such designs even for the least powerful RTX 40 cards, MSI has somewhat maintained their RTX 4060 portfolio with dual-fan designs. It may also be worth noting that this is the 15th (!) design based on RTX 4060.

The Duke utilizes an annular fan blade design and adopts 0dB technology for when the card is not heavily used. It retains a dual-slot design and offers four display connectors: 3x DP 1.4a and one HDMI 2.1a. On the backside, the Duke is fully covered with a metal backplate.

There is no factory-overclocking on this card though, but MSI confirms it supports overclocking through MSI Center and Afterburner software.

GeForce RTX™ 4060 8G GAMING DUKE 3X

Boost frequency/memory speed

  • 2460MHz/17Gbps
  • 8GBGDDR6
  • DisplayPort x 3 (v1.4a)
    HDMI™ x 1 (supports 4K@120Hz HDR, 8K@60Hz HDR, and variable refresh rate in HDMI™ 2.1a specification)

Three-fan cooling design

  • Annular fan blade: The aerodynamically optimized annular fan blade design further increases wind pressure while maintaining structural strength, guiding the airflow through the fins faster and enhancing the heat dissipation effect.
  • Zero-movement technology: When the graphics card temperature is low, the fan will completely stop rotating, thus completely eliminating fan noise and extending fan life.

Metal back plate

  • The solid metal backplate and ventilated design not only strengthen the graphics card but also help dissipate heat.

MSI has not yet confirmed or listed any other Duke models. However, considering past releases and the similarities between the RTX 4060 and 4060 Ti, it is highly likely that more Duke GPUs will be introduced in the future.
