Gigabyte to launch Radeon RX 7900 GRE Gaming GPU

Gigabyte joins the Golden Rabbit team.

Gigabyte’s Radeon RX 7000 series offers a limited selection of designs: AMD reference models, the custom Gaming series, and a lone AORUS Elite card, as featured under RX 7900 XTX. In comparison to NVIDIA’s RTX 40 lineup, some might find this collection less impressive.

The company seems unbothered by this fact, and it is now introducing a brand-new SKU in this lineup, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE. The card will be part of the Gaming series, and it will borrow the design from Radeon RX 7800 XT model.

As we know, the RX 7900 GRE, also known as the Golden Rabbit Edition, has initially targeted the Chinese market specifically. It has since expanded its availability to Europe and other Asian countries. There’s currently no information about the 7900 GRE making its way to the Americas, though.

The RX 7900 GRE uses Navi 31 XL GPU, which is a size-reduced variant of the full fat Navi 31 GPU as used by RX 7900 XT and XTX SKUs. The GPU comes on a smaller package, comparable to Navi 32. Thus, board partners can reuse the same board design from their RX 7800 XT/7700 XT models, especially considering the power requirement. The RX 7900 GRE actually needs less power (260W) than the 7800 XT (263W).

The company is yet to provide details on the clocks, but judging from the GPU name, it will come with factory overclocking out of the box. Gigabyte has not yet officially listed this model anywhere, but users can find references to such models in Japan, possibly indicating it will be released there as well.
