GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Xtreme ICE announced with 2.7 GHz GPU clock

Gigabyte is set to launch a new GeForce RTX 4080 graphics card as a special edition.

According to a Facebook post, Gigabyte is gearing up to release a highly exclusive edition of one of its GPU designs. What’s interesting is that this card will be based on the Xtreme series, previously known only for its liquid cooler version called Xtreme WaterForce. Thus, the AORUS RTX 4080 SUPER Xtreme Ice will be the first air-cooled Xtreme model in the series.

Slides from the presentation were shared by Duy Manh, Gigabyte Vietnam’s Product and Sales Manager, lending credibility to this report. However, the timing of this announcement is confusing, coinciding with April Fools’ Day. Despite this, there are several slides and even images of a physical GPU, suggesting that this could either be an exceptionally elaborate prank or, more likely, a genuine new design set for release in the near future.

The card reportedly boasts a boost clock of up to 2.7 GHz, which is over a 150 MHz overclock compared to NVIDIA’s reference specifications. This surpasses the highest boost clock of all known RTX 4080 SUPER models, which stands at 2670 MHz.

Similar to the AORUS Master model, the Xtreme graphics card is equipped with a side display, allowing users to showcase custom content or real-time GPU information.

It’s been mentioned that the graphics card will also be part of a special bundle featuring an AORUS Z790X Xtreme Ice motherboard, an AORUS 1000W Platinum PG5 power supply, and an AORUS WaterForce X II Ice 360 water cooling system. Most components in this bundle are expected to be of white color. The bad news is that the entire bundle will be limited to 300 units worldwide, with the release anticipated sometime in the second quarter. Something tells us it won’t be cheap.
