Biostar launches A380 GPU

Following the release of the Arc A750 GPU, Biostar is now announcing that their A380 ST model is also available. Biostar remains among the very few brands that offer not one but three GPUs from AMD, Intel, and NVIDIA. Their Intel offering isn’t extensive, only spanning across two models so far, but everything has its beginning.
The Arc A380 ST model is a Mini-ITX design with a single fan. The card isn’t low-profile, nor does it fit into a single-slot form factor. However, it comes with a single fan and no requirement for any external power connectors.

The Arc A380 is powered by the ACM-G11 GPU with 8 Xe-Cores. This isn’t a high-end configuration, and it isn’t pretending to be a real gaming GPU. Biostar is advertising this model for ‘casual gaming’, content creation, and video streaming. Here, one should note that Intel Xe-HPG architecture is often used for video encoding, especially with the AV1 codec, which is a strong point for Alchemist in the budget segment.

Another cool feature of this model is support for DisplayPort 2.0. While none of the RTX 40 GPUs support this standard, the cheapest models featuring the newer DP are probably the Radeon RX 7600. However, in that case, power draw is significantly higher (165W), while the A380 only needs 75W (and can’t use more due to PCIe interface limitations).
The Biostar A380 GPU is currently unavailable for purchase in the US and EU markets. While it’s not on sale in these regions, Biostar typically focuses on the Asian market first before expanding to other regions with their hardware products.
