AMD Strix Point rumors take shape
Chinese reviewer and leaker Golden Pig Upgrade has gathered recent rumors and revealed new information about a second Strix Point SKU.
AMD is just about to announce its new series of mobile APUs called Strix Point. Those are the first Zen5 products alongside desktop “Granite Ridge” that may see the light, later to be followed by Strix Halo, Fire Range, and Kraken. The new lineup not only upgrades the CPU architecture and graphics to RDNA3.5 (only for some variants), but also featuring an entirely new naming scheme.
As revealed by ASUS, the new series will be called Ryzen AI 100. Specifically, Ryzen AI 9 HX 170 will be added to the next-generation Vivobook S16 laptop supposedly launching around Computex next month. ASUS has confirmed that this SKU will feature 12 cores, comprising 4 Zen5 and 8 Zen5c (dense) cores. Questions were immediately raised about the rest of the lineup.
According to Golden Pig, there is a second SKU called Ryzen AI 165, without HX or 9 this time. It is very likely that this was not finalized yet, and these descriptors were simply omitted by the source; however, this is how we learned about a second model. According to the chart combining all known Zen5 consumer products, the Ryzen AI 165 would feature 10 CPU cores, however, the exact configuration was not specified (2+8 or 4+6).
The Strix Point APU is monolithic, which means that unless AMD has two different dies, the Ryzen AI 165 would simply have the cores disabled. The same could apply to the GPU, currently featuring an unspecified configuration. The full die should feature up to 16 RDNA3.5 Compute Units. What shouldn’t change is the XDNA2 processing power. The currently known lineup may look like this.

Strix Point is just one of the five known variants of Zen5 products, but similar to Krackan, it is targeting the mobile market specifically. AMD is now expected to unveil Strix Point and Granite Ridge at Computex, with other products to follow later (possibly next year).
