AMD Radeon PRO W7900DS
This graphics card is slimmer than W7900.
AMD is releasing a new model of its flagship workstation graphics card, the Pro W7900. The new model is simply called “Dual Slot” or DS for short is a slimmer version of the originally introduced design from April 2023.
The Radeon Pro W7900 Dual Slot (DS) is designed specifically for multi-GPU setups in workstations. With the increasing complexity of tasks requiring more powerful graphical processing, having the capability to integrate multiple GPUs into a single system proves advantageous.
The just-announced W7900DS is a Navi 31 with a full 6144 Stream Processor count. It also features the same 48GB GDDR6 ECC memory as the original 2.5-slot design. This card comes with the same 28 cm length and even the same TBP (Typical Board Power of 295W).
AMD is also updating its ROCm platform to version 6.1. This Radeon Open Compute stack has been updated several times since the release of RDNA3 GPUs, as AMD has been gradually incorporating consumer (gaming) grade hardware to support this library. The most recent update was in February, but the new version adds support for Radeon PRO W7900 Dual Slot.
The W7900DS will retail at $3,499, which is actually less than the W7900’s initial release price.
